The Secret Service Fairies Came, Cleaned, & Cloroxed

So yesterday Vickie and I had Activity Days and it was great.  The first Monday of the month we did a great activity that I will post about later, but where that one took quite a bit of prep work we felt that we should do a service project with little or no cost.  We both seperatly felt that we should clean the nursery toys,  and when that happens then you should probly listen to the prompting.  So we grabbed some clorox wipes and got down to the nitty gritty.

We had the girls play Colored Eggs while waiting for everyone to show up, then one of the girls from the older group conducted before we split.  We talked a little about the importance of service, how we feel after we serve some one else, how its not always fun, and how it can sometimes be a sacrifice with our time, but in the end you are always glad you were able to serve someone and how greatful that person is.  We talked about how service can be as simple as a smile or a hug to a stranger, or opening a door for a big sister with a sprained ankle.  Or it can be something bigger like taking a meal to someone who is sick, or doing dishes for your mom with out being asked.  No matter how big or small the service its like doing service for the Lord.

After many stories (9 of the 12 girls showed up) it was off to the nursery.  We had the girls sit in the middle of the room and handed out wipes and placed the large toys in front.  

The girls were so sweet and having so much fun that they breezed through the big toys, and then we did the boxes of Legos, and blocks, large beads, and puzzles. 

Then we wiped down all the little chairs, the table, the door knobs, covers of books...lets just say that the room was GLEAMING and smelling FANTASTIC (cause we used the orange wipes).  

When we were all finished we talked about the service we had done and decided it would be good to leave an anonymous letter letting the nursery crew know the toys had been cleaned.

The girls loved it and instead of signing names we had them draw a doodle, initals, or in one case a math problem;)  I wish I had thought of the letter before so I could have printed it off, but it was a spur of the moment thought to let the nursery leaders know that the toys had been cleaned.  So now I have that saved HERE.

Vickie had found a really cute poem on Sugar Doodle and we typed it up and make bookmarks which I saved HERE.  It was for girls camp, and it is supposed to go with a small bag of M&M's, but we just gave them each a Peep because the older girls shared their treat with us.  Anyway the girls had fun, we had a great lesson, and we got to do some service.  A Great experience all around:)
